1. The Sheldon Grading Scale

The Sheldon Grading Scale, also just known as the Grading Scale, is a scale used by professional grading companies as well as collectors to grade their coins and understand what their wear means for value. The scale ranges from 1-70.

Levels of detail include:

Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, Fine, Very Fine, Extremely Fine, About Uncirculated, Mint State, Proof.

2. Professional Slab and Holders

There are professional companies who have been around for years who specalize in grading coins.

Why get a coin graded you may ask? Well let me explain.

Getting a coin graded can ensure authenticity, boost value, and ensure the coin stays safe and sealed away from elements to preserve the coin.

There are many companies who do this but the two who have been in the game the longest, and therefore have the best reputation for most reliable grades, are NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) and PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service.)
